Call for participation of Romani LGBTIQ+ people

19 March 2024

Apply now to join the transformative journey of our RoMagic project!

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a movement that aims to document and challenge the oppression faced by LGBTIQ+ Roma whilst also celebrating and affirming their identities. Your participation will contribute to a broader understanding and recognition of the LGBTIQ+ Romani experience, paving the way for a more inclusive and just future.

This is an invitation to LGBTIQ+ individuals of Romani origin to engage in a landmark project, led by the European Roma Rights Centre (ERRC), Vojvodjanski Romski Centar in Serbia, and RomaJust in Romania. We will amplify the voices, experiences, and rights of LGBTIQ+ Roma through a series of artistic, creative, and collaborative efforts.

Through a combination of photography, audio, film, online and physical exhibitions, and the production of a living photo catalogue in digital formats, we aim to challenge existing prejudices within Romani communities and the wider society by rendering the life experience and personal narratives of LGBTIQ+ Roma visible to diverse audiences across Europe. Your knowledge and personal testimonies will contribute to the wider endeavour of ensuring LGBTIQ+ Romani history does not go unrecorded, oppression does not go unchallenged, and that the LGBTIQ+ Romani contribution to the arts and culture in Europe is fully acknowledged.

Embrace this chance to stand with your community, share your story, and contribute to a legacy of empowerment and visibility.
